Cuphea likes a ph
of 5.8 – 6.2 in a peat-like media. The media should have adequate
moisture holding capacity since Cuphea has a high water demand once it
becomes established. |
Good growth can be established and maintained with 250ppm nitrogen on a constant liquid feed basis. 20-10-20 is the formulation we use at Buckley’s. | For vigorous growth 60-65 degree night temperatures and 70-75 degree day temps. Are recommended. | Full sun | Cuphea are relatively pest free. Whitefly, however, can be a problem. Pesticides normally used for control of whitefly on poinsettias should correct the situation. We have not used soaps or oils however; we use a drench for root rot control at planting, other than that pesticide use for disease control has been unnecessary. |
