We would like to inform you of some
exciting developments at Buckley’s.
During the last two years, we have been working on plans for a new
production facility. Those
plans will soon become reality and we would like to take this opportunity
to provide you with an update.
H.M. Buckley & Sons, Inc has
been purchased by H.M. Buckley Growers, Inc. - d/b/a Buckley Growers of
Illinois (BGI), which is owned by H.M. (Lad) Buckley IV, Doug Buckley,
Dave Wagner and Bill Boehm. Lad,
Doug and Dave are the fifth generation of Buckley’s to own the business
and Bill has been the Head Grower for 24 years.
The BGI ownership has combined experience of over 80 years in the
business of growing ornamental plants for the wholesale market.
BGI will continue to operate the
existing Springfield, IL facility for one last spring season while a new
production facility near Taylorville, IL is constructed.
A completion date for the new facility is planned for early summer
of 2007. The new
state-of-the-art 4-acre greenhouse and 20,000 square foot support building
will be heated by a co-generation system, utilizing waste heat from
methane fueled electrical generators at Waste Management’s Five Oaks
Landfill near Taylorville. This economical fuel source coupled with the new facility
being equipped with many of the industry’s latest technologies will
allow us to better respond to your needs with improved efficiency, service
and quality. Our project
development schedule has been strategically planned to minimize
interruption of service to our customers.
